Church cleaning help needed! A sign up board is in the Gathering Area today. Please choose a manageable part of the church to clean, as listed on the sign-up. We are asking covenant partners to team up (with friends or family) and help us clean the church! We ask that you complete your area before the end of September.

Alps Road Care Team - Did you know that our church, through the Fellowship Ministry, has established a Care Team? This is group of people charged with reaching out to congregation members, especially in difficult times. It's just another way at Alps Road that we try to care for one another. All men are invited to the Community Bible Study Daytime Core group which meets every Wednesday from 10am-11:30am in Room 100. This is a 30-week study of 1st and 2nd Corinthians which includes worship, home study workbook, small group discussion, teaching, and commentary. Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry will be here before you know it! This year, we encourage participating covenant partners to buy the durable plastic shipping boxes at Hobby Lobby ($2.99 each and hold up well in shipping containers). Shoeboxes are due Wednesday, November 13, to the church office. We will also offer 2 different times to volunteer with Samaritan's Purse in processing shoeboxes: Tuesday, November 26, at the Atlanta warehouse or Sunday, December 8 - Monday, December 9 at the SP headquarters in Boone, NC. We are blessed with a wonderful pipe organ and an amazing organist in Dr. Pettyjohn! Our organ is in need of significant repairs to keep it playing well. In addition, we have the opportunity to add a 3rd manual (keyboard) and additional pipes which will give Dr. Pettyjohn even more opportunity to enhance our worship with organ music. We have received gifts totaling $26,000. Total cost for repairs and upgrades is $40,000. Remaining amount to raise is $14,000. If you’re interested in contributing any amount, please put “organ repairs” in the memo section of your check.
Food Bank - August Food Bank Needs - The food bank needs for August are Hamburger Helper (this is needed the most), Jiffy Corn muffin mix, mashed potatoes in a dry pouch, Rice-A-Roni in a dry pouch, and any dry pouch pastas.

Annual Youth Offering - We are continuing to accept contributions for our annual over-and-above youth offering supporting our middle and high school. Your generosity will off-set costs for students to attend area summer camps. Thank you for your prayerful consideration.

Bible ABC verses given so far this year are A - N. We hope all children (and youth!) are learning them! Next chance for review and to recite verses (A-R) will be at the end of January. All Bible verses are on cards in a plastic box on the table outside the church office. Be sure to pick up any bible verse cards you may be missing and take them home for review!
Read Through the Story of the Bible - This year we challenge and encourage you to read through the story of the Bible. About one-half of the Bible is narrative. These narrative sections contain the people and stories of the Bible. While the other parts of the Bible are important, they are often more difficult to read. This year as a congregation, we would like to read through the story of the Bible using these narrative sections. We have a reading schedule available after worship, in the church office, and online. We also will have videos to help you navigate through the readings. In addition, if you would like to be in a discussion group, you can complete the form on the side flap of the bulletin, sign up at church, or by calling the church office. These groups will meet every 4-6 weeks.
Prayer Ministry - Prayer’s important for our congregation. If you have a special prayer need for our prayer team, you can send the request to firstname.lastname@example.org. They will pray for your request in confidence. If you would like a prayer request to go out over "P-Mail," you may send it to the church office,email@example.com. P-Mail invites the entire congregation to pray for needs and concerns.
Handbell Ringers! - Handbell ringers wanted for our Christmas concert! Rehearsals for our Lessons and Carols concert will begin on Saturday, September 23rd, from 9:30 to 10:30am. The concert will be during the 11:00amservice on Sunday, December 10th, and we will also be playing the anthem at the 11:00am service on Sunday, December 17th. Rehearsals will be Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 10:30am in the bell room. All covenant partners from 9th grade through adults welcome to join. We look forward to ringing with you!

Volunteer needed to be part of media team for early service. You'll be trained to learn program for creating slides - it's easy! then be part of rotation for running media on Sunday morning. Please let Deb Trimpe know of your interest and we'll get you trained in August.

Old Testament Reading Plan - An Old Testament Reading Plan is available at the Deacon’s Table in the Gathering Area. The coming year is a good time to read through the entire Old Testament.
