Cuba Mission

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

15 of us traveled to Matanzas, Cuba in June 2015 to spend a week with the members of Alps Road Presbyterian Church, Matanzas.  The purpose of our trip was to mutually encourage each other in the faith and explore the details and ministry opportunities for a church partnership.

Our friends in Cuba introduced us to the beauty of their country as well as the ministries and outreaches in which they are involved.  We found many opportunities for our partnership including work with the church’s outreach of 2 baseball teams and a soccer team, feeding breakfasts to senior adults who have no family to care for them, exploring the possibilities a dairy farm offers the church and her members and painting and light construction work, as tropical climates are hard on buildings.

Their hospitality truly blessed us, too!  Together, the church and our group spent an afternoon at Montserrat, a beautiful park overlooking the town of Matanzas, we experienced a stunning view of the port and ocean from the seminary where we stayed and even snorkeled over a coral reef near Varadero Beach.

We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships with our Cuban friends and plan to take a group back again in the summer of 2018  For more information, please contact Rev. Deb Trimpe at debtrimpe@alpsroadpres.org
