The Five Sola's Of Protestantism
The Latin word "sola" means, "alone." Five key principles were at the heart of the Reformation: Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, and all for the glory of God alone.
Sola Scriptura - Our understanding of faith and practice is "by Scripture alone" as opposed to any other source of authority.
Sola Fide - Justification is received "by faith alone" as opposed to works or sacraments.
Sola Gratia - Salvation comes "by grace alone” as a gift from God
Sola Christus - Atonement for sins is "by and through Christ alone.”
Soli Deo gloria - All glory is to be given "to God alone."
